In January Magpul industries announced plans to trade Colorado’s gun control for Texas’ gun and business friendly climate. In November they acquired a building in Austin, TX, for their corporate headquarters and they have moved their “production, distribution, and shipping operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming.”
Production will be underway in Cheyenne in January 2015.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Magpul’s corporate headquarters will now be located on Bee Caves Road. The site consists of “3.89 acres” and has “a 16,000 square foot office building.”
Magpul plans to close all “existing Colorado facilities…during the first quarter of 2015.”
Breitbart News previously reported that Magpul’s departure will cost Colorado approximately $85 million within a year.
Magpul execs warned Democrat state lawmakers that this would happen if they passed gun control–especially a “high capacity” magazine ban–yet lawmakers passed the measure in March 2013 anyway. Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) reached out to Magpul after they made clear that they would leave Colorado if gun control was passed and he said he was “proud” when the renowned firearm magazine manufacturer decided to “join the ranks of companies that call Texas home.”
