A drunk driver was charged with a second degree felony after being involved in a head-on collision with a deputy near the Texas-Mexico border.
43-year-old Arturo Hernandez faces several intoxication assault charges, according to the McAllen Monitor.
Authorities claim Hernandez crashed his pickup truck head-on into the patrol car of a Hidalgo County sheriff. The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Monday. Both Hernandez and the deputy were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
Hernandez’ alcohol blood level at the time of the crash has not been released to the public, the Monitor reported.
The 43-year-old, who is currently being held at the Hidalgo County Jail, has a bond reportedly set at $250,000. If convicted, he could spend 20 years behind bars and face a hefty fine.
