A Texas man attempted to steal an unmarked police car on Tuesday — at the time of the attempted theft, a police detective was sitting inside of the vehicle waiting for it to warm up.
The incident took place in Texas’ greater Fort Worth-area in front of the officer’s home, according to Reuters. When the suspect opened the car door, the detective inside told him that he was under arrest.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot. He has yet to be arrested.
A second suspect was near the officer’s home and attempted to drive away — the detective followed him fox six miles. The second suspect was eventually arrested after crashing into a building. He suffered from some minor injuries and consequently taken to the hospital.
The apprehended suspect has reported been charged in connection with the incident.
