DALLAS, Texas — Governor Rick Perry announced he is cutting his trip to Europe short and returning to Texas. The move came less than 20 minutes after Breitbart Texas reported the Governor had no stated plans to return to Texas amid the growing Ebola crisis. Perry is now scheduled to return to the Lone Star State.
Perry is now returning to Texas tomorrow, according to Perry communications director Felix Browne, in an email to Breitbart Texas. The email came thirteen minutes after the Breitbart Texas article was published.
Perry left on his previously scheduled trip to Europe shortly after Nina Pham was diagnosed with Ebola, as reported previously by Breitbart Texas.
Even after the second Ebola diagnosis, Governor Perry seemed hesitant to cut the European trip short and return to Texas to oversee the efforts to handle the spreading Ebola outbreak. In a previous statement to Breitbart Texas Perry said, “The diagnosis of a second health care worker in Dallas reaffirms what a formidable foe this virus is. I am in daily contact with Dr. Brett Giroir and Dr. David Lakey and earlier today spoke with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell to ensure state and federal management of this issue is tightly coordinated.”
Governor Perry previously announced his agreement with President Obama that no travel ban to Ebola affected areas be put in place.
