Authorities on Exposed Healthcare Workers: 'We Have No Idea Where They Live'

DALLAS , Texas — The City of Dallas said they have no idea where the 75 health care workers who were potentially exposed to the Ebola virus live. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has not provided a list of their workers and their residences to the city.

“We have no idea where they live,” said Dallas Public Information Officer Sena Syed to a group of reporters gathered outside the apartment complex of the second hospital worker who has now contracted Ebola. “The hospital has not provided us with any information where any of the other hospital workers live.

Syed said she would bring this up with the hospital so the city planners can get an idea about where these people are who might need emergency services in the future.

Syed walked the reporters through this morning’s emergency response. She said the city, using Dallas Police Officers and Dallas Fire and Rescue workers, knocked on every door in the complex and made personal notifications to every resident they could contact. She said most residents were already awake because of the helicopter noise and answered the door when they knocked.

Reverse 911 calls were also made to residents of a four-block radius of this apartment complex located about five miles from the hospital and only a very short distance from the apartment of Nina Pham, the first nurse who became infected late last week.
