HIV-Positive Texas Music Teacher Used App 'Grindr' to Have Sex with Teen Multiple Times

HOUSTON, Texas — An HIV-positive music teacher at Richardson ISD Academy reportedly had unprotected sex with a 15-year-old boy after using the app Grindr. The teacher, 43-year-old Roger Kessler, was ultimately caught as he left the teen’s home in McKinney. 

According to the Daily Mail, the 15-year-old’s parents initially called the police when they thought a robber was leaving their home; they detained Kessler until police arrived, KHOU reported. 

It was only later that they discovered Kessler was a music teacher who had been visiting their son for sexual encounters. 

Subsequent to being caught, Kessler reportedly told authorities that he had sex with the 15-year-old four times. One of those times included unprotected sex. 

The Richardson School District has placed the teacher on “administrative leave.”

In a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas, the school district said, “Richardson ISD learned Thursday that RISD Academy music teacher Roger Joe Kessler was arrested by McKinney Police and charged with the offense of sexual assault of a child. Police have indicated that the charge does not involve a student at RISD Academy or in RISD. Mr. Kessler has been placed on administrative leave, pending the resolution of the situation. Kessler has been a music teacher in RISD for 14 years, all at RISD Academy, with no history of complaints of this nature. RISD Academy parents were informed through a letter home Thursday.”

According to local media reports, Kessler told police that the 15-year-old had no knowledge that the teacher was HIV-positive. 

The music teacher has been charged with sexual assault of a child. 

Breitbart Texas made numerous attempts to reach the McKinney Police Department by phone; those calls were not immediately returned.
