HOUSTON, Texas — A young female police officer based out of Houston was arrested for possessing a kilo of cocaine. The cop, Jasmine Bonner, was busted during a drug transaction.
A spokesman from the Houston Police Department (HPD) told Breitbart Texas that 26-year-old Bonner worked in the Houston Police Department’s Juvenile Division. She had been on the force for about two and half years, and was sworn in in December 2011.
Bonner was with her 6-year-old son at the time of her apprehension, which occurred in a busy parking lot, according to a report by CNN. The boy was reportedly in the backseat while Bonner transported the drugs.
Bonner’s neighbors told CNN that many people come and go from the young cops house on a regular basis. “We’ve seen a lot of cars over there, a lot of really expensive cars,” neighbor Martha Hazelwood said. “We saw activity, men coming in and out,” another added.
The 26-year-old reportedly met Derryck Collins, her boyfriend, in the parking lot on the night of the bust. CNN reported that Collins is being charged with transporting the cocaine from Collins’ car to his own.
The duo remain in custody. Bonner’s bond was set at $1 million, and Collins was not offered bond due to pending charges related to marijuana and money laundering.
“Officer Bonner is currently relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal investigations into allegations of conduct,” an HPD spokesman told Breitbart Texas. She could be terminated based on HPD’s investigation, which is in addition to the ongoing criminal investigation.
HPD Chief Charles McCleland responded to Bonner’s arrest in a statement that said, “Officer Bonner is constitutionally innocent at this time.”
