In a Breitbart Texas exclusive, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) directly challenged the truthfulness of public statements made by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The TSA spokesman used social media to claim that Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby and the NBPC were lying about a recent report that the TSA is allowing illegal aliens to fly on commercial airliners without verifiable identification.
The social media exchange of tweets was exposed on Friday evening on Twitchy Media.
The NBPC’s vice president Shawn Moran released the Border Patrol agents union’s statement to Breitbart Texas and stated:
TSA employees at Laredo International Airport notified Border Patrol agents last night at 11 p.m. local time that a new policy was in place that would not allow illegal aliens to fly solely using an I-862, otherwise known as the Notice to Appear form. TSA employees stated they will allow illegal aliens who had been released on their own to travel with a foreign passport or ID in addition to an I-862. We’re grateful that TSA has fixed this lapse in security, even if they won’t acknowledge it publicly. Our fear is that those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it. In the worst case scenario, our commercial transportation system could have been exploited, as it was by illegal aliens nearly 13 years ago.
Breitbart News reported on Saturday that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) had previously said Breitbart Texas’ report that illegal aliens were boarding commercial airlines with no other identification than their Notice to Appear forms “was completely wrong.”
The TSA statement of policy change vindicates Breitbart News and Managing Director Brandon Darby, who initially reported the story, proving that the sources used in the article had provided correct information.
Immediately after the TSA publicly attacked Darby and the Border Patrol agents, the NBPC issued a press release stating that the Border Patrol agents were willing to go under oath and give sworn statements that the TSA were lying. The NBPC also stated that the surveillance footage from the airport would prove that the TSA had in fact been allowing illegal aliens to fly without verifiable identification.
In a phone interview from assignment on the Texas-Mexico border, Darby stated:
A large number of federal agents from the Border Patrol have put their careers on the line and offered to give sworn statements that the TSA is lying and that our report is correct. They have also indicated a willingness to make the same assertions before Congress.
This is the second time that an agency under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken to social media to attack me, Breitbart News, and the credibility of the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol, who are represented by the NBPC.
The first time, they called us liars for reporting that they were intending to ship illegal aliens to Murrieta, California. We were right; the Border Patrol Union was right. The federal agency spokesperson was wrong and never acknowledged they had been wrong. TSA should be ashamed of themselves. Not only for the way they treat the American public, but for their actions and words in this instance. We know that they will never apologize, and we fully expect for the administration and their politically-appointed agency leaders to continue either restricting information to the American public or directly lying to the American public when confronted. Nonetheless, we will continue to use our platform to bring a voice to the men and women of the Border Patrol and in other agencies whose conscience requires them to speak out against the deception of the Administration and the agencies under it.
