HOUSTON, Texas–A blind, diabetic, sex offender, human rights activist and self proclaimed Native American has escaped from a Houston halfway home, according to a recent report made by conservative talk radio shows Walton and Johnson on their Friday morning broadcast.
The escaped inmate goes by the name Iron Thunderhorse. He’s a 64-year-old Caucasian male who was first imprisoned by in the 1970’s on sexual assault charges. According to reports, he’s about 5’8” and weights more than 200 pounds. He has tattoos on both arms.
He was last seen on June 19th at a Houston halfway house located at the 6500 block of Shotwell. According to a press release obtained by Breitbart Texas, Ironhorse is blind, diabetic and has a history of heart problems. Rest records indicate that he has been a frequent escape risk since first being sentenced in the late 70’s in Collin County, near Dallas. He was initially convicted on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, aggravated robbery and in 1991 he was convicted of a charge of attempting to escape incarceration.
Thunderhorse wasn’t always his name. When he was born in New Haven, Conneticut, his parents named him Will Coppola. He has also been accused of not being a true Native American, but this allegation has yet to be confirmed.
When he’s not sex-offending, kidnapping or escaping correctional facilities, Thunderhorse stays busy by writing books and magazine articles on prisoner rights and Native American shamanism.
Some progressive activists have hailed him as something of a hero rights. There’s even a biographical book written about him titled Following the Footprints of a Stone Giant: The Life and Times of Iron Thunderhorse. The book was released in 2007 by his wife, Ruth Mahweeyeuh Thunderhorse, another Native American activist.
