HOUSTON, Texas–As foreigners–most of whom are minors from Central America–continue to flood into to the U.S. illegally, the Obama Administration apparently plans to use monitoring devices on the migrants.
Hundreds of illegal immigrants are being released by authorities on U.S. soil every day–but soon ankle bracelets will be used to track those who are freed, the New York Times reported. The federal government will apparently also be setting up additional detention centers to accommodate all of the migrants.
The decision to use tracking devices comes as rumors of amnesty are rapidly spreading throughout Central America. It is easy to imagine why migrants believe they will be allowed to stay in the U.S. if they come illegally–when they show up at the border, instead of being turned away they receive a slew of benefits including taxpayer subsidized housing, food, recreation, counseling, and even attorneys. Additionally, most of the migrants will likely not be deported.
Zack Taylor, Chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, told Breitbart Texas that foreigners are given incentives to come into the U.S. illegally. He said, “It’s like if someone stood on the side of the pavement and said, ‘Free ice cream, free money!’ Who doesn’t like free ice cream and free money? How about a free ride on a plane or bus?”
It is unclear at this time if tracking devices will do anything to curb the border crisis.
Many experts assert that the situation will likely only get worse as word continues to spread about the services and benefits being administered to illegal immigrants, while deportations are simultaneously not being discussed by the Obama Administration.
Victor Manjarrez–a professor at the University of Texas El Paso, former Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector, and former Chief Patrol Agent in El Paso Sector–told Breitbart Texas, “I honestly think that [the problem is] going to continue to get worse.” He said that until significant policy changes are made to deter illegal immigration, the problem will only escalate.
The Obama Administration, however, refuses to acknowledge that its policies encourage more illegal crossers. White House officials have insisted that violence and poverty in the migrants’ home countries is the only reason for the border crisis.
But Taylor doesn’t buy that argument. He said, “If children fled violence on their own, there would be no teenagers in Chicago.”
