The Ottumwa Police Department in Iowa reports it arrested a 17-year-old male on the charge of sexual abuse in the second degree for his alleged role in producing child pornography with an infant in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to local NBC reports.
17-year-old Kraigen A. Grooms is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond. If convicted, he could spend up to 25 years behind bars and will be charged as an adult according to local reports.
Police suspect that Grooms is responsible for performing in and videotaping a sexual assault on a child that took place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in April of 2013 as reported in local media.
The charges were filed as part of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] and the Department of Homeland Security after a video surfaced online that featured a white male, possibly in his teens or early twenties, committing a sex act with a female victim who appears to be under the age of two.
The suspect in the video is seen wearing a black hat with the caption “Shut Up N Play” written on the front according to federal reports. Investigators were tipped off that the alleged incident took place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area because the hat worn by the suspect could only be purchased in that geographic region at the time of the video’s original production. Investigators believe that Grooms was in that area at that time according to local press reports.
