Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy ‘s line of attack against Democrat Mary Landrieu in Louisiana hasn’t changed much throughout the race and the latest USA Today poll suggests it’s working, at least in the sense it may get Cassidy into a one-on-one run-off he’s broadly expected to win.

A new USA Today poll of 500 likely Louisiana voters shows Landrieu is expected to lead the Nov. 4 primary election against Cassidy, Republican Rob Maness and five others. But in a head-to-head showdown in a runoff election, a Cassidy victory is likely when Republican votes are combined.

Even the New York Times has had to admit, Obama is toxic to this year’s crop of embattled Democrats, including Landrieu.
