Greg Orman, the Independent who is running against Republican incumbent Pat Roberts in Kansas’ U.S. Senate election, has made it clear that he is not tied to any party.
He may not caucus with the Democrats, but he will certainly fund-raise with them.
The son of left-wing billionaire George Soros, will co-host a fundraiser for Orman in New York on Wednesday.
An invitation obtained by the American Rising PAC shows Goldman Sachs’ Joseph Gleberman, Gotham Capital Partners’ John Perry, banker Gavin Wolfe, and Jonathan Soros, the son of billionaire hedge fund activist, George Soros. Jonathan Soros helped start the Friends Of Democracy PAC two years ago.
If you’re baffled as to why these top Democrat donors would be getting behind an “Independent” like Greg Orman, Ken Ciboski, political science professor at Wichita State University, attempts to explain:
“I think these people, who are supporting him, they do want him to be a Democrat. I think the Soros people, obviously, that’s what they identify with and policies that are that way.”
Not surprisingly, the Orman camp had no comment on the fundraiser.
