Tom Steyer’s NextGen Climate super PAC hit Florida Gov. Rick Scott on climate change and oil drilling with a less than honest bi-lingual ad, ironically enough, entitled “Fraud.”
“… a Spanish-language TV ad running in the Miami area through Election Day, NextGen accuses Scott again of allowing oil extraction near the Everglades and harming drinking water. Fact checkers have said Steyer was being misleading in his previous claim that Scott had taken money from a company that “profited” from “dangerous” drilling near the Everglades”.
NextGen’s claims were debunked by PolitiFact Florida as far back as August.
In a new television ad, billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer airs another beef with Florida’s millionaire Gov. Rick Scott and his campaign cash. But the 30-second ad mashes up various bits of information about Scott, painting a misleading picture.
NextGen Climate, a deep-pocketed, pro-environmental group that is largely targeting Republicans in the 2014 midterm elections, is using the ad released on Aug. 22 to focus attention on a controversial oil drilling project in Collier County.
The full and evidently misleading ad in Spanish below.
