In Oregon, the Michael Bloomberg-funded gun control group, Everytown for Gun Safety is backing Democrat Gov. John Kitzhaber, while also trying to unseat state Sen. Bruce Starr, R-Hillsboro.
Along with spending $22,000 to support Starr’s opponent, Democrat Chuck Riley, they also “reported spending just over $56,000 on ads lauding Kitzhaber on gun issues, including a TV ad featuring the brother-in-law of Steve Forsyth, one of the two people killed in the 2012 shootings at Clackamas Town Center”.
Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York and No. 8 on the Forbes list of the wealthiest Americans, announced earlier this year that he was putting $50 million into efforts to build political control for additional restrictions on guns.
