A group of Libyan militants have taken over a residential annex which is associated with the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli. The group posted video of young men jumping into a backyard pool.
U.S. personnel left the Embassy in July because of the deteriorating security situation in the country. Rival militant groups had escalated fighting leaving dozens dead in Tripoli and Benghazi. After the airport in Tripoli was destroyed by militants, U.S. and British diplomats fled west into Tunisia by convoy.
The U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Deborah Jones, confirmed the video was of the residential annex but claimed the Embassy itself “is now being safeguarded.”
@AmCo15 To my knowledge & per recent photos the US Embassy Tripoli chancery & compound is now being safeguarded and has not been ransacked.

However an unnamed Dawn of Liberty commander told the AP his troops were also in control of the Embassy. The militants claim that the property will not be ransacked.
