As if Congressman Bruce Braley’s campaign hasn’t been getting enough bad press, now a self-described Progressive Veterans group is being called out for trying to hire Vets to work for Braley at the Iowa State Fair, while being unable to answer questions regarding Braley’s poor attendance on a key committee overseeing the Veteran’s Administration.

Over a two-year period, Democratic U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley missed 75 percent of meetings for a committee that provides oversight over the Veterans Administration, including one meeting on a day he attended three fundraisers for his 2012 campaign.

The group’s About page details the progressive causes it supports, including on immigration.

VoteVets.org continues to focus on matters including, but not limited to, foreign policy, energy security, veterans’ unemployment, and opening military service to life-long Americans born to undocumented immigrants, as well as continued investment in care for veterans.

More often than not, Veterans have a stake in the top issues of the day, and VoteVets.org is committed to getting their voices heard on these issues.  For that reason, VoteVets.org has, and will continue to, work with all progressive allies representing labor, immigration, gay and lesbian rights, and environmentalists, when their issues coincide with the needs of troops and veterans.

Craig Robinson of The Iowa Republican scorches Braley for seemingly yet one more misstep.

Since Bridgett said that that the group wanted to make sure Veterans received the Healthcare that they deserve, I asked her why Braley skipped all those congressional hearings on the problems at VA hospitals. Bridgett then said, “Yeah, there are some negative ads running. The main thing is that we know Braley will vote on policies is good for Veterans and Joni would not.”

Two of the fliers the group is distributing can be seen here and here.
