In response to Remember When Democrats tried to impeach Bush? Co-Sponsor Shelia Jackson Lee don’t:
I think you’re being a little hard on the media, John.
I mean, MSNBC does occasionally break from their 24/7 Obama Impeachment fundraising drive coverage, to cover burning issues like the lack of diversity in Emoji characters.
MSNBC host Ronan Farrow took to his panel Tuesday to discuss what he perceives as a lack of racial diversity among emoji characters.
Emoji, originating in Japan, describes the ideograms or smiley faces used in electronic messages, such as texting and social media.
You’ve got to give Farrow some credit for taking on challenging issues nobody else is talking about. And I do mean nobody.
Then there’s CNN’s Candy Crowley’s hard hitting interview with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Sunday. In making her case that the United States must look to Hamas ally Qatar for advice in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Pelosi said, “we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization.”
Hamas of course has been designated a foreign terrorist group by the US State Department. It’s a particularly
brutal organization that seeks the destruction of Israel. The idea that Hamas is a “humanitarian organization” is a grotesque subversion of the truth that should have provoked some amount of disapprobation from Crowley.
If she wasn’t up against a hard break — I know Crowley would have been all over it — like she was with Mitt Romney that time he made a debatable point while she was moderating a presidential debate.
But as it was, she merely had time to offer a mild correction.
“The U.S. thinks they’re a terrorist organization though, correct? Do you?”
Pelosi responded weakly, “Mmm hmm.”
I don’t know about you, but as we enter the remaining months of the 2014 mid term election season, I’m confident that the media will use the same amount of fairness and impartiality in covering the two parties that they always do.
