A new survey of cable news transcripts by Five Thirty Eight finds that MSNBC mentions impeachment more than four times as often as Fox News.
Nate Silver compiled data via a Lexis-Nexis search of the two networks’ use of the word “impeach” or “impeachment” over the past several months. What he found was a huge upswing at MSNBC since June. He produced the following chart:
MSNBC talks about impeachment way more than Fox News. Dems talk about it more than the GOP. http://t.co/iUwdZfGhOD pic.twitter.com/4UrTCDxOVK

Silver says the breakdown from July shows, “Fox News has 95 mentions of impeachment, and MSNBC 448. That works outto about 2.7 mentions per hour of original programming on MSNBC, or onceevery 22 minutes.”
This sudden surge in impeachment talk on the progressive news network just happens to coincide with a similar surge in fundraising emails emanating from the Democratic Party. Yesterday Ron Fournier at National Journal reported on the the White House’s involvement in a scheme to use impeachment talk to scare up cash. So far it seems to be working. The DCCC announced their impeachment push had helped them raise $2.1 million over the weekend.
