The left-wing website, Think Progress had to issue a major correction on a post about Michele Bachmann, Sunday – and by major correction, I mean the entire post has been crossed out – except for the correction.
The news site KCTV7 News is a parody. Rep. Bachmann (R-MN) never made the statement. We sincerely regret the error.
Think Progress, which is operated by the Soros-funded progressive “idea factory,” the Center for American Progress – failed to vet a “too good to check” story that claimed Minnesota U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann was pushing “Americanization” labor camps for Central American migrant children. Sounds pretty likely, right?
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has offered up a new solution to the humanitarian crisis along the US/ Mexico border, where tens of thousands of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children are currently being detained. And now she’s calling on President Barack Obama to help push forward a bipartisan effort to see her idea become a reality. Bachmann’s plan? Send those children to labor camps, which she warmly refers to as “Americanization Facilities,” with the goal of having them pay off their past, present, and future care expenses, while assimilating them into American culture. And in exchange for that labor, the children would be fast-tracked on a path to citizenship.
The hoax, which stoked left-wing fantasies (and projection) about conservatives behaving like Nazis, reeled in two other major left-wing websites – Daily Kos, and Crooks and Liars, according to the Daily Caller.
In its parody article, KCTV 7 claimed that Bachmann called for the work camps in an interview with Minnesota’s Twin Cities News talk radio host Jason Lewis. But the fake site merely linked to Twin Cities News’ website, not to an actual article or radio interview featuring Bachmann.
Kansas City is home to KCTV 5 – a legitimate news station. There is no
KCTV 7 in the Kansas City area, and if the Think Progress writer had
bothered to look, there are several online posts point out that KCTV 7
is a fake news site.
The Daily Caller reports another liberal website, the Raw Story, pointed out the massive hoax.
But the Raw Story seemed to provide cover for Think Progress’ error in its headline, which read “Crazy racist Bachmann story so believable liberal websites fall for parody.”
Which is the same excuse snookered libs are using in the Think Progress comment section.
