In response to Obama, Democrats Self-Destructing Over Immigration Policy:
I think one reason this situation is souring badly enough for even the Washington Post to sound red alerts is that it’s the crisis next door for everyone. It’s not just about pumping states that don’t vote Democrat full of illegal aliens. They’re getting resettled all across the country, leading local officials and law enforcement to raise a hue and cry from coast to cost.
For example, sheriffs are speaking out in Boston, of all places. It’s enough to make the Boston Herald sound like a Tea Party newsletter:
Illegal immigrants are being secretly flown to Massachusetts and kept in local lockups in an under-the-radar operation that has alarmed lawmen who are raising health and security concerns amid recent spikes in detainees coming up from Texas during the latest border crisis.
“We’re all becoming border sheriffs now with these people being carted all over the country,” said Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson.
“The blame goes all the way up. It’s a travesty and people ought to be upset,” Hodgson said. “This is un-American and has raised the stakes to the public health and public safety threat.”
Hodgson said buses from his facility were recently used to transport six planeloads of illegals sent up from San Antonio to Hanscom Field in Bedford en route to the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.
The sheriff said he’s also heard of 100 immigrant children recently arriving in his county. But he couldn’t say if they are part of the deluge of 50,000 unaccompanied kids crossing the nation’s southern border.
On the receiving end of the buses from Hodgson’s facility was Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald Jr., who said he’s seen a jump in illegal immigrants arriving at his jail and had to deal with “scenarios where we’ve had 100-plus detainees coming in at the same time.”
Hodgson called for sheriffs across the United States to “mobilize” on the red-hot immigration issue and confront the feds over their failure to communicate with local officials.
Good luck with that, Sheriff Hodgson. This is a planned and managed crisis. Obama and his cronies wanted this to happen, and they’re not going to stop because a bunch of local sheriffs start raising objections to the busloads of “undocumented Americans” getting shipped into their neighborhoods. But if public anger grows loud enough, across the nation, congressional Democrats might get worried enough to start having some long talks with the President behind the scenes.
Be honest, people of Massachusetts, and everyone else recoiling in surprise as a massive taxpayer-financed federal transportation network feeds illegal aliens into communities in every part of the country: would you be getting upset about this, if the new arrivals had all been dumped into Texas and Arizona? Border security has always been one of the more blatant examples of a regional issue, in which other states, especially Norther states, look down their noses at the people who actually have to live along the porous border. But Obama’s man-caused disaster is turning every state into a border state, as Sheriff Hodgson put it. It’s a whole new ballgame.
Maybe that ballgame is already over. The amnesty caucus will pull out its accordions and play us the same wheezy old song they’ve been playing for decades: illegal immigrants instantly melt into the shadows, there’s no way to find them, it’s impossible (and inhumane) to deport them… If we accept those excuses again, this invasion has already succeeded. People need to get mad as hell, and stay mad, if there is to be any hope of intimidating our political class into take any effective action here.
Two weeks ago, Obama assured us (and warned the people of Central America) that all of these inbound illegal aliens would be repatriated. Last week, he said it’s impossible to repatriate any of them, because he decided to take half of a law signed in 2008 seriously and ignore the other half. Is forcing him to drop the blatant lies he was telling two weeks ago progress?
