According to an author I’ve never heard of who wrote a book I’ve never read, there are 3 types of dog intelligence:  Adaptive Intelligence (learning and problem-solving ability), Instinctive Intelligence and Working/Obedience Intelligence. That being said, if you believe 60-year-old, Wesley Mark Terrell, then his dog was the president of the brand new Mensa canine chapter.

On Wednesday in Oconee County, Georgia, police responded to a call reporting a dog locked in a car at a Bell’s food store on a day when the temperature outside reached 99 degrees. Sheriff Sgt. Partain was first on scene and measured the internal temperature of the car at 123 degrees. What’s more, Partain reported a “stifling” smell within, apparently emanating from a can of gasoline.

After confronting the driver, Terrell, Partain said the man appeared highly intoxicated. The Sheriff’s hunch may very well have been supported by Terrell’s explanation that the dog drove him to the store to buy some corn. It wasn’t clear whether the corn was for the dog or the man.

Terrell was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty and DUI. The dog was taken into custody for driving without a license and was subsequently handed over to Animal Control.

Terrell was bailed out of jail by his cat.
