When asked if she was aware of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl having attempted to escape his Taliban captors, Sunday on CBS’s ” Face the Nation,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee said she had heard no information in that regard, other than rumors. When prodded, she also told CBS’ Bob Schieffer it was the first time she’d heard of his being tortured.
Strange that she would appear to be less in the loop than Schieffer given her role on the Senate Intelligence Committee and also as a high-ranking Democrat.
As regards the exchange itself, she said, “It hits us as a real surprise, going on to say she saw “no signs of the Taliban relenting.” “I have deep concern now that they have tried to kill the almost newly elected president of Afghanistan,” added Feinsein.
