Milwaukee Taxpayers out $218,000 for Union-Backed Government Living Wage Law

It seems the first impact of Milwaukee County’s “living wage” law will be to create new government jobs that will require over $200,000 in taxpayer monies to support.

That’s the anticipated cost behind “hiring three new compliance officers to oversee the county’s union-influenced living-wage law. The county’s Audit Services Division on Thursday will present a resolution on the potential staffing increase to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.”

Supervisor David Bowen, who authored the law with Service Employee International Union-affiliated officials, previously claimed that it wouldn’t not cost taxpayers a dime as businesses contracting with the county would foot the bill.

Unfortunately for Milwaukee taxpayers, said claim appears ot be false. But the SEIU got just the law they desired. That’s quite a deal from their perspective.
