Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s political action committee, Sarah PAC, has endorsed Florida congressional candidate Lizbeth Benacquisto in the FL-CD 19 special Republican election.
Palin expressed her support for Benacquisto on her Facebook page.
“…Lizbeth Benacquisto is the only proven conservative in the race. She served her constituents well and has never forgotten who put her in office – the people. Lizbeth will take these values to Washington to fight for us all.”
Palin added more praise for Benacquisto, as well as taking a shot at her Republican primary opponent, Curt Clawson.
Lizbeth Benacquisto is a proven conservative with an unwavering commitment to the principles of our Founders and to the sanctity of life. In the Florida State Senate she has a record that demonstrates a willingness to take on special interests and rein in the scope of government. A fierce advocate for her constituents, Lizbeth has introduced and pushed through legislation to protect our senior citizens.
We need this fighter and advocate for women and innocent life in Washington!
I admire and respect the good folks supporting other candidates in this race, but we’ll have to disagree on this one. Lizbeth is running against a wealthy self-funded candidate with lots of splashy campaign ads claiming to be a conservative.
Since when do conservatives stand for crony capitalism and government bailouts? Please do your homework, voters. Look beyond the fancy anonymous campaign ads. Look at a candidate’s record, not just their rhetoric. Lizbeth is a genuine conservative with a track record to prove it.
Palin rips on Clawson for supposedly supporting “crony capitalism,” and for the his past company’s acceptance of a government bailout.
But what about Benacquisto’s record of raising taxes while she sat on the Village Council in Palm Beach County?
“We were pleased to be awarded the stimulus dollars…I fought very hard on the Metropolitan Planning Organization.” — Councilwoman Lizbeth Benacquisto, Sun-Sentinel, April 28, 2010
In addition, notice that the family photo her campaign supplied Sarah PAC does not include Benacquisto’s current husband.
Whenever Palin releases a family picture of her family, it almost always includes her husband Todd, right?
As we pointed out in a previous story, Lizbeth Benacquisto’s current husband is none other than the prolific former Democrat bundler and donor Bruce Strayhorn, who backed both Obama and Hillary Clinton in 2008.
Yes, Benacquisto’s husband bundled and donated thousands of dollars to help defeat Sarah Palin and John McCain in the 2008 Presidential election.
“After Clinton lost to Senator Barack Obama, Strayhorn jumped on board the Obama presidential campaign, being quoted as saying “we have to make a change in Washington.”–Shark Tank
With a husband who actively worked against the conservative movement, and promoted the dangerous liberal agenda of Barack Obama, I don’t blame Benacquisto for excluding her husband from the family photo.
The race in this special Republican congressional election has reached new lows, as all of the candidates in the race have taken some cheap shots, as well as some valid ones against each other.
Throw in a Super PAC and some other PAC’s, who have attacked Clawson, Kreegel, and Benacquist, and you have a good old fashion mudslinging congressional campaign.
This race is a toss up. All of the candidates in the race can back up their claims of being conservative, but all does conservative bona fides each one of them claims to have, could be called into question.
