“Imagine holding your baby before he or she is born.” That is the marketing hook for a company called 3D Babies which uses a proprietary process to create a figurine from a 3D ultrasound image of a baby in the womb.
Working from the ultrasound, the company says it can create a “unique artistic representation of your baby” through the use of cutting edge computer graphics and 3D Printing technology.
If you’re hoping to meet your baby before actually delivering your baby, you can order it in three sizes: 8-inch life-size for $600, 4-inch half-size for $400 and 2-inch mini for $200. The latter being a perfect size for your wallet if you’re an on the go type and would like to have a replica of your fetus on you all times without being bogged down with the full 8-incher. The 3D babies also come in three shades: light, medium and dark.
Not sold? The website wants you to consider that this is a “great way to share the excitement of your new baby with family and friends….in case the notion of carrying a living human being in your belly isn’t exciting enough.
Company founders Gerard and Katie Bessette have two little girls, ages 1 and 3. The couple explains on their Indiegogo page the idea of printing fetuses was born out of an attempt to hold onto memories that can easily be forgotten with time.
Still not sold? Consider this. If you already despise your future baby, you can print a celebrity baby instead. For example, you too, can have your very own North West baby for a mere $250.
The couple was hoping to raise $15,000 by the end of last November. They fell short by only $13,775.
