In response to Whitewashing al-Qaeda involvement in Benghazi:
John notes that “the people who were in Libya on 9/11/12 are said to be angry at the Grey Lady for its assertions.”
“Angry” might be an understatement.
According to Fox News’ Adam Housley, The New York Times has “stirred up a hornets’ nest” with its whitewash of the events of 9/11/2012. His sources are the folks who were on the ground, that night – CIA, FBI, U.S. military, U.S. State Department and contractors.
He told Harris Faulkner, yesterday on Fox News, that as soon as the Times report posted, a number of reporters who have been working on the Benghazi story “got phone calls and emails…. the community was extremely upset.”
In fact, they are outraged to point of “getting off the fence” and going public with the information they have in order to correct the record.
….so much of the NY Times story was wrong, it has stirred up the hornet’s nest, “where some of these men and women who have been on the fence, will say, ‘okay enough’s enough. This now means we need to come out and let America know as much as we can without putting people in harm’s way.'”
Housley reported for Fox News:
Those sources, who continue to face threats of losing their jobs, sharply challenged the Times’ findings that there was no involvement from Al Qaeda or any other international terror group and that an anti-Islam film played a role in inciting the initial wave of attacks.
Witnesses strongly dispute the notion that it was a random attack in response to a YouTube video.
“It was a coordinated attack. It is completely false to say anything else. … It is completely a lie,” one witness to the attack told Fox News.
Fox News has learned that the attack on the consulate started with fighters assembling to conduct an assault.“Guys were coming into the compound, moving left, moving right…and using IMT (individual movement techniques). … That’s not a spontaneous attack,” one special operator said.
“One guy was shooting, one guy was running. There are guys watching the gates. … The bosses on the ground were pointing, commanding and coordinating — that is a direct action planned attack.”
Rep Peter King, a member of the House Intelligence Committee told Fox News, Saturday, “it’s clear that this was an organized, systematic attack with very skilled mortar operators – this was no kind of mob at all. And to the extent that a video was involved – it was really peripheral to the whole situation. This was an organized attack by Ansar al Sharia which is an al Qaeda affiliate in actual practice.” He called the report “misleading” because it was “making a distinction without a difference.”
Whether or not the Benghazi witnesses will go on the record with what they know, remains to be seen. Their jobs are on the line, and any information they share could effect the Americans who are still working over there.
