SAN ANTONIO – It’s how you handle yourself when the chips are down that really illustrates character. Take for example, the story of off-duty Olmos Park officer, Frankie Salazar. According to police documents, all Salazar wanted to do was swap sexual partners, but went the deal went bad, he allegedly shot his would-be swapping counterpart.
The incident occurred Saturday night when the 29-year-old swinging Salazar hosted Jesus Edward Guitro, 33, and a lady friend for some drinks at his home in San Antonio. The two men had reportedly been discussing swapping sexual partners for several months. Apparently, in Salazar’s mind, this was gonna be the night.
So here’s how it went down according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Start the bass.
1. Guitron’s lady friend reportedly went to the bedroom.
2. Salazar walked in after her and began her kissing her.
3. The lady friend told police she “didn’t feel right” and wanted to back out, so she pushed Salazar away.
4. Enter another woman, 29, who became upset with Salazar for not telling her what he had in mind for the evening.
5. While Salazar and another woman argued, the lady friend tried to get Guitron to leave the house.
6. Salazar then got into a fistfight with Guitron and told another woman to get his gun.
7. Another woman said she grabbed Salazar’s .45-caliber Springfield XDS pistol. When she returned, she saw that Guitron had Salazar in a neck hold. Another woman told police she shot at Guitron “just to scare him,” but didn’t know if she had shot him or not. She then recanted her story, saying she couldn’t remember if she actually discharged the gun.
8. The lady friend said that she and Guitron made a break for the front door and that’s when Salazar fired three times.
9. The lady friend told police she ran but realized Guitron had been shot when she saw him lying in the street.
10. Police were called just after 3:30 a.m.
According to police, Guitron had bullet wounds to his chest, right hand and possibly his left pinky and was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police confiscated a Glock .22 pistol belonging to Salazar and he was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police. He was later released on $50,000 bail.
