SWEDEN – A man serving a one-month sentence for an unspecified crime, busted out of the minimum security Östragård facility in the municipality of Vanersborg in south-western Sweden…because of a toothache.
The 51-year-old jailbird told the Dagens Nyheter newspaper, “my whole face was swollen. I just couldn’t stand it any more.”
He reportedly asked for medical care for the pain but was denied and that’s when he hatched the plan for the bold escape. He busted out and headed to the nearest dentist who extracted the inflamed tooth. The man then turned himself into police who took him back to prison.
Upon his return, the man was given a warning and his sentence was extended by one day.
