Man Leaves 250K and 4,270-Square-Foot-House to His Cats

Man Leaves 250K and 4,270-Square-Foot-House to His Cats

Two cats will be living the rest of their lives out in luxury despite the fact that their owner just died. Or in this case, because their owner just died. That’s because their owner, Leon Sheppard, Sr., willed the cats his 4,270-square-foot house and $250,000. The will states that the money should be used for the care of Frisco and Jake as well as the maintenance of the house, which is in a gated community.

Attorney Randy Fishman, a lawyer for nearly 35 years, said, “If their owner sees fit, they can create a trust for the welfare and benefit of the cats and their care.” According to Fishman, the will is legal.

Sheppard was president of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1529 before he retired. He was 79 when he died. Neighbors said he loved his cats.

Leon Sheppard’s daughter told reporters by phone that the family did not want to talk about it.

According to the will, when Frisco dies whatever is left of the estate including the house can be passed to Sheppard’s human heirs. The heirs will be allowed to move Jake out of the house but it’s stipulated he must be cared for.

Sheppard’s five children are currently not plotting the murder of Frisco.
