On Thursday’s edition of MSNBC’s “The Cycle”, the Host, Toure suggested to the panel that the reason red state Democrats were supporting Senator Landrieu’s ObamaCare bill to let people keep their health insurance, was because their states are gerrymandered.
Here’s what he said:
“Let’s just look at the members who are supporting this Landrieu bill. Mary Landrieu from a red state. Senator Kay Hagin from a red state. Joe Manchin from a red state. Senator Pryor from a red state. Mark Begich from a red state. Do you notice anything? We see red state Democrats who are dealing with the challenge of living and governing in a gerrymandered world where sometimes they have to deal with what the folks on the right want, with very low support on the Republican side for this, but what the folks on the right want.”
I’m not even sure what he was trying to say there, but as one person noted on Twitter, that is what we call a “civics fail.” To state the obvious – Senate seats cannot be gerrymandered.

Later on, Toure beclowned himself further when he insisted that the US Senate isn’t even at play in 2014, forcing the two women on the panel to have to school him on the harsh political realities facing red state Democrats. That clip can be seen at Mediaite.
