CHICAGO -A 21-year-old man suspected of firing a paintball gun at people was shot in the shoulder with a real gun Thursday evening in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said the man was shot about 7:40 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Emerald Avenue; taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center where he was listed in good condition.
According to Greer, Area South detectives discovered that the man shot was suspected of firing a paintball gun at people earlier in the evening. He was taken into custody for that incident along with an additional 39-year-old suspect. Authorities recovered two paintball guns, Greer said.
Details on the time and location of the earlier paintball attack were not released nor did police say if anyone was injured.
Charges against both men are pending.
Earlier in the week, 3 people were arrested for a paintball shooting on the South side. And officials say a truck driver was shot in the face with a paintball on the Chicago Skyway last Friday.
