Couple Kill Roommate With Sledgehammer Because She Wanted Them To Move Out

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Police say two people admitted to killing their roommate with a sledgehammer after they were arrested Sunday in connection with her death. Police say they had been searching for suspects, David Weingrad and his girlfriend, Georgia Scordamaglia, after the body of 53-year-old Alisa Kerman was discovered in her home Thursday night. She had been bludgeoned to death in her bed, according to police.

After detectives received information Saturday that the suspects were in Broward County, deputies located Kerman’s red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in a parking lot across the street from a hotel.

According to police, the couple admitted to killing Kerman, saying she wanted them to move out because they were using drugs again.

Detective Sheila LaGrega told a local news station, “He did indicate to us that they had discussed it about a week or so prior. In their minds, they felt that that’s what needed to be done.”

LaGrega said Weingrad grabbed a sledgehammer from Kerman’s garage and struck her three times in the head.

Weingrad and Scordamaglia were taken to the Broward County Jail and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
