ARLINGTON, Va. – It was a lovely Thursday morning in Nashville as passengers boarded Southwest flight 3132 for the short flight to Tampa. But that flight would be delayed by a man whose very presence was supposed to calm nerves and guarantee passenger safety. Meet 28-year-old Federal Air Marshal Adam Bartsch of Crofton, Maryland. According to records, Bartsch was on duty and armed – armed with a cellphone camera that is. And Bartsch discharged that weapon liberally when he “took pictures with his cell phone underneath females’ dresses and or skirts as they boarded the aircraft.”
Records also state that a chivalrous passenger wrestled the cell phone out of Bartsch’s hand after witnessing the impromptu on-board photo shoot. Air Marshal Bartsch was subsequently arrested and according to the police report: “Bartsch admitted…taking 10 to 12 pictures…” and moreover, “Bartsch admitted…taking pictures 15 to 20 times in the past.”
One passenger unleashed a venomous condemnation of the Marshal: “Yikes. Really. Oh my. That’s not good. No, that’s very, very scary,” said passenger Suzanne Ashley.
As is often the case with these incomprehensible crimes, neighbors were shocked at the character revelation.
“I’m caught totally off guard,” said neighbor Eugene Phillips. “I never would have suspected it. He seemed like a nice family man.” A family man indeed.
A TSA spokesperson said in a prepared statement: “TSA does not tolerate criminal behavior. The agency immediately removed this individual from his current duties and is in the process of suspending or terminating his employment. TSA continues to assist with the investigation.”
