Issa: Obama 'Non-essential Personnel' Because He Won't Negotiate

House Republican lawmakers told the Hill Wednesday that the government shutdown could last for weeks, but  they plan to stay in DC and work every day, including weekends, until the government reopens.

House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa answered with characteristic bluntness when asked by a reporter whether it was appropriate for Obama to head to Asia if the government remained shutdown.

“What do we need him for? I think he’s nonessential personnel myself because if he won’t negotiate, what do we need him for? He wants to golf, let’s be honest”, the California Republican told a gaggle of reporters.

Obama cancelled next week’s trip to Asia, Thursday, opting to remain in Washington to fight the Republican hostage takers. All eyes will be on him this weekend to see if he cancels his usual golf outing.
