During the previous administration we heard a lot about how the world sees the United States–as a cowboy, a bully, etc. Barack Obama was elected to change all of that. According to a BBC report published today, the Obama administration’s behavior toward Syria shows that he has.

Taken from a program called The Editors, the segment is titled “Has the World Order Changed?” Host John Simpson argues that the situation in Syria this month marks the end of the United States acting as a lone superpower on the world stage.

The host asks Beirut journalist Rami Khouri if the era of U.S. superpower has ended. Khouri replies “I don’t think the Americans have lost power, what they’ve lost is conviction and self-assurance.”

Simpson wraps up the segment saying “September turned out to be the month when America’s license as the world’s only superpower expired.”
