The DNC Twitter feed pushed out this fake ransom note attributed to the Tea Party today:

Democrats have played the hostage-taker card so often that it fails to shock anymore. But it really should. Hostage takers are by definition criminals who belong in jail. That’s clearly the message the DNC is sending with this fake note including the cut-out letters. Is that really a message the President is comfortable having his party send out? What happened to the guy who said:

At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized – at a timewhen we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the worldat the feet of those who think differently than we do – it’s importantfor us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with eachother in a way that heals, not a way that wounds…

As we discuss these issues, let each of us do so with a good dose ofhumility. Rather than pointing fingers or assigning blame, let us usethis occasion to expand our moral imaginations, to listen to each othermore carefully, to sharpen our instincts for empathy, and remindourselves of all the ways our hopes and dreams are bound together.

Meanwhile, the official White House Twitter feed is using cute animals to sell Obamacare:

Baby animals vs. hostage takers. This sets a pretty low bar for future administrations.

Update: There’s a video version of the note. The announcement was made while I was writing this post:
