Cops: Father and 4-Year-old Son Overdose on Heroin

REDMOND, Washington – According to the Redmond Police Department, a 37-year-old father and his 4-year-old son have been hospitalized after allegedly overdosing on heroin

Police say that on Tuesday at around 11:45 a.m., the boy’s mother arrived home to discover her son and her husband unconscious, but still breathing. When officers arrived on scene, they found drug paraphernalia leading them to believe that the father injected his son with heroin.

“We are treating this as a possible assault, under the assumption that maybe someone else injected the 4-year-old with heroin,” Lt. Charlie Gorman with the Redmond Police Department says.

Police records indicate that officers have conducted welfare checks at the home in the past for reported assaults but are not sure if it’s the same family. Neighbors say the family is somewhat reclusive and the boy has very little interaction with other kids.

Father and son are being treated in separate hospitals. Both are in stable condition.

Police are not looking for additional suspects at this time.
