Breaking Bad Gets Spin-Off: 'Better Call Saul'

While a launch date has yet to be announced, AMC and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan appear to have concluded negotiations for a spin-off.

The show, Better Call Saul, will star Bob Odenkirk as Saul, who has been a Breaking Bad fixture from the beginning. It will be produced by Breaking Bad writer Peter Gould.

Better Call Saul, in discussions for months, will be a one-hour “prequel” to the acclaimed drama that will “focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer,” the network said in a joint statement with Sony Pictures Television. The show’s title is the cheesy attorney’s ad slogan.
