A Chinese delivery company has begun developing a drone they hope will one day be able to deliver packages across long distances and reach remote areas. According to MyDrivers.com, a Chinese technology news portal, SF Express, a courier company based in Shenzhen, is already putting the drones to the test in Guangdong province’s Dongguan city.
The drones are equipped with eight propellers and have specially designed spaces where packages can be inserted. Each drone comes with a built-in navigation system that only requires input of the address and flight path. Staff will be able to remotely monitor the drone’s movements and adjust its position within two metres.
The drones currently have the ability to fly at altitudes of about 100 metres.
