The American Dream exists, just tougher to realize and still no guarantees. This is personal. Apply as fits for you. The details are many but the path of choices and risks comprise the lessons I remember and impart today.
- In 2004 I left Dallas when my father lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. His words were simple … come home and care for your mother or you may be an orphan. I left my job and friends. There would be another job and friends are always there.
- The terrestrial radio industry had become an homogenized mess of voice-tracking and cookie cutter stations with job losses mounting. I went to work and worked where necessary. I took on a weekend show at SiriusXM. Never thought I would go satellite but opportunity was there.
- I ran into my friend Lis Wiehl and she asked me to try out this new thing called the Strategy Room online at FoxNews.com. Never really wanted to be in front of the camera, but why not try something new.
- In 2009 I took a shot with the backing of business partners and launched a business talk show in New York City. The show may have been good but the failure happened. I didn’t fail. I got up after being knocked down.
- I joined in and helped lead my disgruntled fellow Americans by co-founding one of the nations independent tea party groups in liberal-land aka New York City. There was plenty of fight against an out of control federal government.
- Hard work paid off when I got a daily talk show on SiriusXM. Wasn’t my first rodeo but I did the research, the legwork and dove in. I was not done by a longshot.
There are many who supported me in spirit, deeds and backed my plays when they could in any way possible from my mother to my friends and colleagues. Even a few strangers, now friends took a chance. I can’t thank them enough. Find those people in your life and work to never let them down.
Whatever I did or did not get right, I did not give up and that I got right.
On Tuesday 8/5 I will join the panel on The Five on Fox News Channel for the second time. It’s not the pinnacle of my dreams, I have more. It is a great step to take.

Be a winner.
