Child Survives After Being Sucked Into Drainpipe…Dumped in Caloosahatchee River

FT. MEYERS, Florida – A 5-year-old boy is recovering after being sucked into a drainpipe and swept through it for about 300 yards before being dumped into the Caloosahatchee River. The boy was playing with two other children Thursday afternoon when the incident occurred. His friends ran for help but when adults arrived on the scene, they could not find him.  They ran along the drainpipe until they heard the child screaming after he was able to pull himself from the river.

The boy suffered only minor injuries.

His father said, “He’s a very resilient kid…tough kid.”
