CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A swarm of bees is responsible for grounding a US Airways Flight Wednesday for more than two hours. Flight 2690 was scheduled to depart from Charlotte at 1:15 p.m en route to Indianapolis but was delayed for hours after the swarm surrounded the truck used to tow the plane from the gate.
A beekeeper was called in to deal with the problem but passengers were not allowed to deplane as some were allergic to bees.
The swarm was cleared several hours later and the flight took off around 4 p.m.
According to one of roughly 70 passengers on board, US Airways offered a $100 voucher to each traveler for use on a future flight.
