FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WXYT) – On Wednesday, CWO5 Stephen Hunnicutt returned from a nine month deployment in the Middle East to find his wife, Karen, 99 pounds lighter.
Karen Hunnicutt, who was 287 pounds at her heaviest, told a local reporter that her mother died three years earlier of obesity related diseases. It was an emotional turning point and her husband’s deployment presented a window in which to shed the unwanted weight.

“I just basically cried out to God. I didn’t know what the answer was, and after I did I saw a commercial for a program, and I thought I’m gonna try it,” she said.
While taking care of their seven children, Karen stayed true to the weight loss program, all the while cutting off visual communication with her husband including SKYPE and FaceTime,
As the pounds came off….her self-esteem returned.
“It’s the girl who’s not afraid to dream anymore. The girl who can go after and live life,” she said, “I want to see the surprise on his face. That is what I’ve been working for. I want to see the look on his face.”
Her husband said she looked great, and that he had always loved her for the woman she was on the inside.
