HOUSTON – Police say surveillance video captured the murder of man after a woman shot him with a rifle during an altercation Sunday evening at a gas station in southeast Houston.
The video shows a woman dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt arguing with a man near the gas pumps of the Gulf station located in the 6800 block of Cullen Boulevard just before 7 p.m. At one point in the argument, she pulls out a rifle from her trunk and points it at the man, who takes a swing at her with an umbrella. That’s when she aims her rifle and fires off several rounds.
Witnesses say, she then pulled out a cell phone and recorded the body on the ground. She allegedly admitted to the killing on video as well.
The victim, identified as 58-year-old Lewis Daniels, died at the scene. A knife was discovered on the ground near him.
Daniels’ brother told reporters that his brother was most likely at the gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes.
“Well, my brother is harmless, he’s harmless and he wouldn’t have hurt her. He wouldn’t have hurt nobody,” the brother said. ‘She just didn’t know him, you know. Because if she’d have known my brother, she’d have known that Poochie wouldn’t have hurt nobody.”
The woman fled the scene, but not before a witness recorded her license plate number and gave it to police.
Police are attempting to track the woman down for questioning.
