Police: Woman Attacks Boyfriend With Crucifix

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQQ) – Police say A 44-year-old woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a crucifix Saturday morning. 911 dispatchers received a call from a man saying that his girlfriend, later identified as Blanca Escobar, was attacking him.

According to the criminal complaint, the man told police that Escobar had come home from a night of drinking. After he told her to get out of the bedroom, “Escobar became upset and grabbed a crucifix hanging from the wall over the bed,” and that’s when she went on attack. She allegedly chased him through through the back door where he used a garbage can to defend himself against the cross wielding woman.

Hobbs Police Officer Mike Stone said,”in domestic violence situations, you know, emotions run really high and anything can be picked up and used as a weapon, and that’s one reason they’re so dangerous.”

Escobar was arrested and booked on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She was also held in detox.
