PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to police, three men are facing charges after a woman’s body was found inside a van that was infested with spiders and cockroaches. Authorities also discovered 13 animal carriers housing 35 different animals including 12 dogs, 22 cats, and a pigeon.
Police say that the 73-year-old woman, Lola Mae Stout, was found dead Sunday. Her husband and two sons (pictured above) were all booked into jail on suspicion of 35 counts of animal abuse and mistreatment. Police say that the men could face charges related to the woman’s death.
According to the sons, Alan Stout, 42, and Gregory Stout, 45, their mother died during a trip to Quartzsite so they put her body in the back of the van and headed back to Phoenix. The father, Alva Stat, told police that his wife was still alive when they got into the van.
Police also learned that the deceased matriarch of the Stout family had prior medical conditions (strokes, goiter and schizophrenia) which required specific medical care.
Arizona Humane Society investigators said that is likely that many of the animals found will have to be euthanized.
Authorities did not comment on the visual similarity between Alva Stout and Seymour Cassel…nor did they comment on Greg Stout’s likeness to a fat Jim Morrison.
