Some lawmakers in Iceland have proposed granting Edward Snowden citizenship. Snowden is thought to be in the Moscow airport, waiting to hear from the countries from which he has sought asylum.
Iceland requires that Snowden would need to be in the country to apply for asylum. The proposal for citizenship would circumvent this requirement.
The bill received “limited” support in the Parliament yesterday, with only six out of 63 members favoring the proposal.
Snowden has applied to numerous countries for amnesty, many refusing his request.
