SACRAMENTO, Calif (CNN/KXTV) — A California man just recently received two letters written by his father during World War II…almost 70 years later.  Chuck Kunelis’ father wrote the letters to his wife and son from Italy, but the they never found their destination in Arlington, Virginia.

The letters only found their way home after an Australian stamp collector purchased the letters from a dealer only to notice that neither had been opened. He then tracked down Chuck Kunelis and sent the letters himself.

Chuck says it was amazing to see his father’s handwriting and to read his words, especially since his father never talked about his war experiences.
