In an exclusive interview with South China Morning Post, Edward Snowden said he will fight extradition efforts and wants “the courts and people of Hong Kong to decide my fate. I have been given no reason to doubt your system.”
Snowden is currently in hiding, presumably in Hong Kong, after identifying himself as the leaker of the United States government’s surveillance operation.
“People who think I made a mistake in picking HK as a location misunderstand my intentions. I am not here to hide from justice; I am here to reveal criminality,” Snowden told the Post earlier today.
Snowden went on to say: “People who think I made a mistake in picking Hong Kong as a location misunderstand my intentions. I am not here to hide from justice; I am here to reveal criminality.”
He told the Post’s reporter “I’m neither traitor nor hero. I’m an American.”
